Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today congratulated the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA) for receiving a $446,000 competitively awarded grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide rental and other assistance to chronically homeless youth in Tucson. The grant, awarded under HUD's Continuum of Care group of programs, is part of approximately $190 million awarded this week by the department to support 550 local projects that will offer housing and other support to nearly 20,000 homeless individuals and families.

Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today congratulated the State of Arizona for receiving more than $1.6 million from the Department of Commerce (DOC) to create job search Internet hubs and virtual workforce training centers around the state. The money, which comes through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act via DOC's National Telecommunications & Information Administration, will establish Job Help Hubs at 28 public and Tribal libraries and install Virtual Workforce Workstations at 198 public and tribal libraries and two community centers statewide.

El Diputado Raúl M. Grijalva agradeció hoy al Presidente Obama por solicitar una orden judicial para bloquear la recientemente aprobada ley de Arizona comúnmente conocida como SB 1070. La ley, a la cual se oponen muchos funcionarios de autoridad judicial, otorga a agentes de la policía local que comprueben documentos de inmigración de toda persona detenida o toda persona involucrada en una infracción de trafico si hay "sospecha razonable" que esa persona es un inmigrante indocumentado.

Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today thanked President Obama for seeking an injunction to block the recently passed Arizona law commonly referred to as SB 1070. The law, which is opposed by many Arizona law enforcement officials, mandates that local police check immigration paperwork for anyone detained or involved in a police stop if there is a "reasonable suspicion" that person is an undocumented immigrant.
