Rep. Grijalva Commends the Veteran Graduates as the University of Arizona’s Celebrates its Inaugural Veterans Graduation

TUCSON— Recently, the University of Arizona’s Veteran’s Education and Transition Services hosted its inaugural veterans’ graduation ceremony to commemorate the achievements of student veterans who transitioned from combat to the classroom and successfully finished their degree programs.

“Congratulations to the University of Arizona’s VETS Center for holding their first graduation ceremony and honoring the hard work and dedication of student veterans,” said Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. “The Veterans Center has grown exponentially since its founding, and I am grateful to the faculty and staff who rise to meet the special challenges student veterans and their families face each day. I commend this year’s veteran graduates who have endured through much adversity to achieve this distinction. They display the true character and fortitude of those that serve this country.”

In 2008, Rep. Grijalva secured the original funding in the federal budget to open the University of Arizona’s VETS Center to provide instruction and support to better ensure academic success for disabled veterans and has supported expanding the model nationwide.
