Rep. Grijalva Statement on Biden Administration’s Family Reunification Announcement

TUCSON— Today, the Biden Administration announced it is reuniting four families who were separated under former President Trump’s zero-tolerance policy. In January, the Administration established a Family Reunification Taskforce to find and reunite an estimated 1,000 families that remain separated. The parents of the children will enter that United States under humanitarian parole while the Biden Administration determines more permanent options for legal status. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“The Trump Administration’s family separation policy remains one of the darkest stains on our recent history, and I’m pleased the Biden Administration is undertaking every effort to reunite children with their parents. The reunification of these four families is hopefully the first of many, and I urge the Biden Administration to continue working on a permanent solution for these families to stay together in the United States. It’s the least we do after the trauma inflicted upon them by the Trump Administration.”
