Rep. Grijalva Announces $25 Million TIGER 9 Grant for Nogales Infrastructure Improvements
Wednesday March 07, 2018WASHINGTON, D.C.–Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a $25 million TIGER 9 grant award for a major reconfiguration and build out of SR 189 in Nogales, Arizona. With more than 7 million vehicle crossings per year, the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales is one of the biggest in the country and is critical to a successful economic relationship between Mexico and the United States. The improvements will include raised medians, pavement widening, flyover ramps, and new roundabouts. The efforts of Arizona's Congressional Delegation and local leaders from across Southern Arizona were critical to securing this important funding for the infrastructure improvements. Rep. Grijalva Announces $1.5 M Grant for Tohono O'odham Nation
Tuesday October 25, 2016TUCSON – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) released the following statement today congratulating the Tohono O'odham Nation on being rewarded nearly $1.5 million in grant funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The funds, which were part of $13 million announced by EPA for Arizona tribes, will pay for the connection of two existing community drinking water systems and upgrade arsenic treatment. Grijalva Announces $2M in Grants Promoting Diversity in Education
Tuesday September 27, 2016TUCSON – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) today announced nearly $2 million in grants from the Department of Education's Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM Program that have been awarded to the Yuma/La Paz Counties Community College District and the Pima County Community College District – East Campus. The funds, which will help both institutions develop and carry out activities to improve and expand the institution's capacity to serve Hispanic and other low-income students, are budgeted from October 2016 through September 2017.
