Congressman Grijalva to Hold Press Conference on AZ Legislature Budget Cuts

Tucson, AZ—- U.S. Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva will hold a press conference to discuss the Arizona Legislature’s continued cuts to public education and health care. This approach will hurt Arizona’s children before the economic recovery package has been implemented in the state.

The press conference will occur at his Tucson District office on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00PM.

“The Arizona Legislature is making disproportionate cuts on the backs of Arizona’s children. It is alarming that this Legislature refuses to listen to their constituents and wants to hold up funding due to political ideologies,” said Grijalva. “Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to provide much-needed cash infusion for all states that are undergoing a budget crisis. Our state leaders should follow the lead and worry about how to end this recession while helping constituents and their families, not about finding ways to revive tired election-year arguments.”

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed into law by President Obama on February 16, was designed to revitalize our economy and fiscal health.
