Rep. Grijalva Slams Trump Administration after IG Report Reveals More Family Separations

WASHINGTON, DC— Today, a report by the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services found that the Trump Administration separated thousands of more children from their families than previously reported. The actual number of children separated from their families and their current whereabouts remain unknown. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“Our country will never forget the images of children in jail-like facilities after being ripped from their families’ arms at the Southern border, but the heartless Trump Administration can’t even accurately account for the number of families they ruthlessly destroyed. Trump’s family separation policy was a stain on our country’s history, and this latest report demonstrates that we may never fully know the consequences of his cruel actions. Congress must use all tools available to investigate every morsel of information concerning this policy and expose the dangerous voices in the Trump Administration who greenlighted its implementation. I reiterate my call for Secretary Nielsen and all those intimately involved with this policy to resign and be held accountable for their actions.”
