Congressman Grijalva to Tour Yuma Community Food Bank, August 17

Tucson, AZ— U.S. Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva will tour the Yuma Community Food Bank Monday, August 17.

Congressman Grijalva will also present a Certificate of Congressional Recognition, “You Were Caught Being a Good Citizen” award to Food Bank volunteer, Cheryl Geary. In over 2 years, Ms. Geary has donated countless hours at the Yuma Community Food Bank, helping with everything from database work to helping to organize community events.

“The Food Bank is a safety net for families, the elderly and individuals that find themselves in desperate times,” said Grijalva. “It is food banks like Yuma’s, that give hope and inspiration to not only those who utilize them but those who give their time to help those in need. Ms. Geary has not only shown the dedication needed at the Food Bank, but is a role model for all who aspire to give back to their communities.”

The Yuma Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides 15 emergency and supplemental food programs to a three county service area: Yuma County, LaPaz County and Imperial County, CA. Those programs include but are not limited to: the Emergency Food Box Program, Food for Hospice, Fill the Shelves for Habitat, Harvest Club, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, Monthly Food Distributions, School Based Produce Distributions, among others.
