WASHINGTON— This week, Abel Reyes Clemente, a detainee at Florence Service Processing Center in Florence, Arizona, died in ICE custody. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:
“Once again, the death of a migrant in ICE custody raises serious concerns about the level of care detainees receive. It is unacceptable that this is the fourth individual to die in ICE custody in 2019, and I’m calling for a full and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Reyes Clemente. Any acts of injustice uncovered demand further consequences.”
