Awarded Grants, Loans and Contracts

Date: April 10 (funding begins June 1)
Recipient: University of Arizona
Granting Organization: National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute
Amount: $523,909
Purpose: Interdisciplinary training in cardiovascular research.

Date: April 10 (funding begins May 1)
Recipient: Mariposa Community Health Center
Granting Organization: Department of Health and Human Services
Amount: $150,000
Purpose: Rural health care services outreach.

Date: April 3
Recipient: City of Tucson
Granting Organization: Department of Housing and Urban Development
Amount: $20 million loan guarantee
Purpose: To create an Economic and Community Development Loan Pool program focusing on projects that create jobs for low- and moderate-income workers.
Notes: The City of Tucson’s new loan program will use Section 108 funds to target projects with pedestrian- and transit- oriented urban design characteristics that are:

·         Located in the Rio Nuevo Tax Increment District

·         Located within a ¼ mile of the Modern Streetcar Alignment

·         Located within a ¼ mile of other regional high capacity transit routes identified in a 2009 High Capacity Transit System Study
