Purpose: Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants help fire departments hire new firefighters and recruit and retain volunteer firefighters

Granting Agency: Department of Transportation
Amount: Variable – $10 million minimum, $500 million total available
Purpose: Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants fund capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure and are awarded on a competitive basis.  Projects will be evaluated on safety, economic competitiveness, livability, environmental sustainability, state of repair and short-term job creation

Purpose: This project, funded through the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2012, will help Comite de Bien Estar with neighborhood revitalization projects, promote and preserve affordable housing, and create or sustain jobs through local NeighborWorks-supported projects. Comite de Bien Estar is a member of the national NeighborWorks public/private network.

Granting Organization: Department of Housing and Urban Development Indian Housing Block Grants
Amount: $381,945 (Ak-Chin), $845,367 (Cocopah), $2,306,848 (Colorado), $8,390,175 (Gila River)
Purpose: These grants, made through the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act, can be used for a variety of eligible affordable housing activities, including affordable housing development and construction, building rehab, low income housing management, and crime prevention or other quality-of-life improvement efforts.
