Grijalva Announces Jan. 11 Job Fair in Tucson – Attendees Should Be Ready for On-The-Spot Interviews With Potential Employers

Tucson, Ariz. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today announced he will host a job fair in collaboration with Goodwill of Southern Arizona at 10:00 a.m. on Fri., Jan. 11, at the El Pueblo Education Center at 101 W. Irvington Rd. Local employers will be available for on-the-spot job interviews, and computers and professional assistants will be available to help file online job applications.

The event is the first of several job fairs Grijalva plans to host in 2013. Attendees should bring multiple copies of an up-to-date resume and dress professionally. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will open with a brief press conference at 9:45 a.m. with Rep. Grijalva and Goodwill CEO Suzanne Lawder, who will speak on the local job market and economic strategies in the new year. The press conference will include a question and answer portion for reporters.

“Everyone looking for work in Southern Arizona deserves every bit of assistance my office can provide, and Goodwill of Southern Arizona has very graciously offered to help,” Grijalva said. “Starting the year strong doesn’t just mean better legislation, it means more hands-on help for working people and those looking to get back into the workforce. I’m proud to get an early start, and I thank Goodwill for the resources they’re providing the good people of Southern Arizona.”

“We are so proud to be a part of this job fair,” said Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona CEO Suzanne Lawder. “When your mission is to provide training, services and jobs to people with barriers to employment, this is a great way to kick off the new year. We are also proud of our relationship with the people of Southern Arizona who donate and shop with us. Thanks to them, our Career Development Specialists are able to provide their services at no cost not only to the attendees of the job fair, but also to the people who visit our Job Connection Centers throughout the year.”
