Grijalva Celebrates Veterans Housing Grand Openings

TUCSON – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Tucson) released the following statement today after helping to open two veteran housing complexes this week. On Wednesday, Grijalva joined La Frontera Arizona to speak at the grand opening of their Rally Point Apartments. Prior to that, he attended the ground breaking of La Frontera’s Sunnyside Point Villas – a project that he helped secure grant money to help fund. On Thursday, Rep. Grijalva spoke to a crowd of approximately 400 at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System’s Fisher House dedication ceremony.

“I was honored to celebrate the grand openings of two amazing facilities this week that will serve the men and women who served our nation in uniform,” Rep. Grijalva said. “Fisher House, which houses families near medical facilities where their loved ones are undergoing treatment, opened its first Arizona facility right here in Tucson. Fisher House has served more than a quarter million veteran families already, and saved those families an estimated $320 million in out-of-pocket lodging and transportationcosts. I am grateful that those services will now be available at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System as well.

“I am equally excited that La Frontera Arizona’s Rally Point will provide safe, affordable housing and supportive services to local veterans. It will place a roof over the heads of veterans who would otherwise be on the street, and provide them with the dignity of their own homes.”
