TUCSON, AZ – Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) congratulates Jocelyn Rodriguez on being offered a fully qualified appointment from the U.S. Naval Academy. Ms. Rodriguez is one of four students nominated by Rep. Grijalva in January for consideration at the Naval Academy.
“I congratulate Jocelyn on her appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy,” said Rep. Grijalva. “This is a testament to her strong work ethic and tremendous drive to pursue her dreams. It is often said that the students of today are the leaders of tomorrow, but in Jocelyn’s case, she has led from the start. Her hard work in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and more have paid off with this appointment, and leave her exceptionally well-prepared to lead her new peers at the Naval Academy. I wish Jocelyn the best in her service, and look forward to her continued rise.”
Jocelyn Rodriguez is currently ranked number two out of 578 in her graduating class at Cibola High School, where she maintains a 4.4 grade point average. She was one of a handful of students chosen to represent Cibola High School at the Arizona Association of Student Council’s (AASC) state leadership convention in January, and has also attended several state and local leadership conferences for AASC over the past two years. In addition to her academics, Jocelyn is also active in cross country, several clubs, and works at her church.
