Washington, D.C.– Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today congratulated the Tri-Valley Improvement Association in Salome on receiving a $35,100 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program. The Association’s facility serves as a meeting point in La Paz County, particularly during disasters such as the 2010 Wenden flood.
The grant will help the group upgrade its commercial kitchen equipment. According to USDA information, the group has secured an additional $800,000 from other sources for the project.
“Rural development means getting the right money in the right hands when it wouldn’t otherwise happen, and this is a good step forward for the La Paz community,” Grijalva said. “Anyone who lives in the area will know what it means to have a place of refuge during a flood, or simply a good community center for everyday use. I’m pleased that USDA recognized the need for this project, and I thank the Association for its commitment to meeting the needs of its community.”
