Grijalva Coordinates Valentines for Vets Drive, Releases Resource Guide for Veterans

TUCSON, AZ – Congressman Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) is coordinating Valentines for Veterans, a Valentine’s Day card collection taking place tomorrow, February 12 at over 40 elementary schools throughout Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. Rep. Grijalva’s staffexpect to deliver more than 1,000 cards to the Tucson Veterans Administration hospital, University of Arizona and Pima College Veterans Centers, and American Legion Veterans Halls.

The Valentines for Veterans drive is taking place as Rep. Grijalva launches a new Veteran Resource Guide on his website. Veterans now have one central resource providing information for everything from disability accommodations, to education resources, to crisis hotlines and support groups.

Rep. Grijalva released the following statement:

“There is no higher mark of distinction than that of service to our nation in uniform,” said Rep. Grijalva.Valentines for Veterans is a token of appreciation from our community to the men and women who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe. The students participating in this drive are helping welcome home heroes, and ensure that everyone who wears this nation’s uniform knows that their sacrifices are appreciated.

“Our efforts, however, must go further,” Grijalva continued. “Veterans deserve access to the benefits they’ve earned through service, and must know what resources are available in times of need. I’m proud to help accommodate these needs through the new resource guide on my website, and I urge any veteran who has further questions to contact my office without hesitation.”
