Tucson, Ariz. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today congratulated Tucson’s Sunnyside Little League girls softball team on winning the 12-and-under Little League World Series. The team won the title yesterday by defeating a team from McLean, Va., 9-0 in Portland, making them the first team since 1990 to win the tournament from the West Region.

“All the players, coaches, families and supporters who helped build this team deserve to celebrate, and I’m excited to congratulate the team in person when they arrive home today,” Grijalva said. “This is a truly national victory for Tucson that many in the community will remember for a long time.”

Rep. Grijalva will meet the team at Tucson International Airport at approximately 2:30 p.m. Arizona time.
