Washington, D.C. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva celebrated Valentine’s Day this year by partnering with Southern Arizona students to thank veterans for their service. Students at Eliseo C. Felix Elementary (Goodyear), Copper Trails Elementary (Goodyear), Michael Anderson School (Avondale), Wildflower School (Goodyear) and Mary Belle McCorkle Academy of Excellence (Tucson) made hundreds of valentine cards to share with veterans, which are being delivered this morning to Phoenix and Southern Arizona VA Health Care Systems.
Grijalva district office staff reached out to the schools to encourage participation and will deliver the cards in batches to various VA locations throughout the day. This is the first year Rep. Grijalva has presented Valentines for Veterans.
“Veterans have given up a lot in their lives and don’t ask for a lot in return,” Grijalva said. “Each student who chose to participate is making someone’s day today, and it’s a tradition I hope to continue.”
