Washington, D.C. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva will speak at a community forum on Friday, Nov. 1, in Nogales to provide important updates and information on the Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplace for Southern Arizona residents. The forum is being hosted by Mariposa Community Health Center.
The forum will feature a presentation by Herb Schultz, Regional Director of the Department of Health and Human Services, highlighting how the Affordable Care Act is expanding health care coverage for Arizonans, ensuring consumer protections, improving coverage quality and lowering costs. Schultz will provide updates on the Health Insurance Marketplace for individuals and small business owners.
James Welden, Chief Executive Officer at Mariposa Community Health Center, will share specific information for Nogales residents on local outreach efforts, as well as eligibility and enrollment resources to help navigate the marketplace.
“The Affordable Care Act means no more health insurance denials for pre-existing conditions, no annual or lifetime limits on coverage, and no higher rates for women compared to men,” Grijalva said. “It’s important to me to make sure the people of Southern Arizona know that and that they understand how to benefit. Everyone should forget the hot air and know how the law really works. Many Arizonans are eligible for benefits or subsidies they may not have known were available. I’m happy to be part of that conversation, and my office is here to help as many people as possible.”
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited
