Washington, D.C. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva will continue his series of Southern Arizona press conferences on the need to extend emergency unemployment benefits this Saturday with an event at his district office in Somerton. Grijalva will speak about the local economy, the need for Congress to extend previously uncontroversial benefits to Americans looking for work, and what he and his allies will do in Washington to help.
“When you vote for trillions in war spending and then blame the deficit on unemployed people I represent, something has gone terribly wrong,” Grijalva said. “I’m proud to speak on behalf of the many Southern Arizonans who want to work, who need work, and who can’t find work in this economy. Nickel-and-diming them while CEO bonuses go through the roof is not good for our economy or our country, and I’m going to keep saying so.”
The event follows press conferences Grijalva held in Tucson on Jan. 23 and in Phoenix on Jan. 24.
