TUCSON, Ariz. – Today, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) announced $3,450,000 in Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) funding for the Tohono O’odham Ki:Ki Housing Association. This ICDBG funding is provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for use by eligible Tribes to help them prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Tohono O’odham Ki:Ki Housing Association will use the ICDBG funding to build two homes and build roads and infrastructure that will provide access to four villages.
“I’m proud to support and represent tribes in my district by providing resources to address housing and infrastructure for Indigenous families,” said Rep. Grijalva. “As Chair of the Natural Resource Committee, I will continue to push for fair and adequate funding for tribal housing and infrastructure in our COVID-19 pandemic response laws and am thrilled to see the direct impact of our advocacy for the Tohono O’odham Nation.”
“The Tohono O’odham Nation is grateful for this much needed competitive allocation of ICDBG American Rescue Plan funds designated to our tribally designated housing association,” said Honorable Chairman of the Nation Ned Norris, Jr. “These greatly needed funds will bring significant upgrades to the reservation’s infrastructure including improvements in water delivery and residential housing construction. We are very thankful to Congressman Grijalva and all those involved to bring ARP funds to our communities in need!”
