WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will award a $4 million grant to the Mariposa Community Health Center in Nogales, Arizona as part of the Rural Maternity and Obstetrics Management Strategies (Rural MOMS) Program to improve maternal health in rural communities.
Rep. Grijalva wrote a letter to HHS in support of Mariposa Community Health Center’s application of funding.
“We must bridge the gap for rural communities and provide funding and access to high quality maternal health services they need. It’s critical we address the disparities faced in rural areas, including the need to attract qualified providers,” said Rep. Grijalva. “I’m proud to support funding opportunities like this one that will help provide the care mothers deserve in Nogales and across rural southern Arizona. I will continue to work to make sure our congressional district receives the appropriate resources to provide quality health care.”
The Rural MOMS Program focuses on a network model-approach to coordinate care across rural hospitals, medical centers, community health centers and rural health clinics.
