WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva announced that Arisaid Gonzalez Porras, a Dreamer from Arizona, will be attending the State of the Union address as his guest. Gonzalez Porras is currently a first-generation college student at Georgetown University and an activist for the rights of undocumented immigrants.

“Dreamers like Arisaid are the reason that I’m fighting for permanent legislation that will protect Dreamers,” said Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. “As President Trump continues to play politics with their lives and use them as bargaining chips for a border wall, he must recognize that his policies have an impact on real people.

“Trump ended the DACA program without a solution in place, and Trump will be responsible if a legislative solution fails to pass Congress. Tonight, as the President gives his address, he will be forced to confront the faces of the Dreamers whose lives he has upended.”
