WASHINGTON— This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that more than $22 billion in funding will be granted to states, localities, and territories to expand testing and vaccine distribution. Arizona will receive $65,769,416 for vaccine distribution and $418,951,181 for testing activities. The money comes from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act passed by Congress in December.
“Arizona has one of the worst COVID-19 outbreaks in the world and requires a robust testing and vaccination effort to combat it,” said Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. “These funds that Congress allocated will play a critical role in expanding and sustaining existing testing infrastructure while allowing Arizona to distribute the vaccine to all who need it as quickly as possible. The vaccine is the best hope we have toward ensuring that we can be with our loved ones and reopen our schools, small businesses, and communities safely. Governor Ducey must immediately allocate these funds to localities so they have the resources they need to stop the spread of COVID-19.”
