Rep. Grijalva Condemns Mississippi ICE Workplace Raid

TUCSON—This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided numerous poultry plants across Mississippi and rounded up almost 700 workers believed to be working without documents. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“Whether it’s at the border or in the heartland, Trump’s family separation agenda is ripping families apart, orphaning children, and striking fear in the hearts of immigrants across the country. ICE workplace raids do nothing to keep us safe. They attack hardworking immigrant families trying to make an honorable living and distract from real enforcement priorities and security threats.

“Small communities rely on immigrants to fill labor shortages, stimulate fledgling rural economies, and form part of the fabric of their communities. These raids do nothing more than destroy those strong ties, damage local businesses, and leave children with longstanding trauma. The Department of Homeland Security must end them immediately.”
