Rep. Grijalva Congratulates City of Tucson on Human Trafficking Awareness and Public Safety Initiative Grant

WASHINGTON— Today, the Federal Transit Administration announced the City of Tucson as the recipient of a $221,000 grant. The grant will fund a human trafficking awareness campaign, an assault prevention public safety campaign, and assist Sun Tran in reducing crime around transit centers.

“It’s vital for cities to have the resources they need to keep their communities safe,” said Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. “I’m proud to support this grant and pleased that it was awarded to my district. Thanks to this grant, Tucson can develop innovative programs to combat human trafficking, reduce assault against transit operators, and reduce crime around transit facilities while leading the way in Arizona for innovative solutions to these important issues.”

In May 2019, Rep. Grijalva wrote a letter of support on behalf of the City of Tucson/Sun Tran for the grant application.
