TUCSON, AZ— This week, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a ruling that prohibited immigrants from indefinite detention. In response, Rep. Raul M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“It’s a sad day when the Supreme Court refers the case back to the Ninth Circuit to decide whether indefinite detention of immigrants—including legal permanent residents and asylum seekers—is unconstitutional. Every immigrant trying to defend their right to stay in the United States should have the ability to have a bond hearing. As Trump continues to ramp up his deportation machine and expand private prisons, this ruling leaves immigrants in limbo until a decision is reached by the Ninth Circuit.”
