WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) released the following statement:
“PragerU does not belong in Arizona schools. It’s masquerading as a serious educational resource when in reality it’s unaccredited right-wing propaganda. Additionally, there are serious concerns regarding PragerU’s funding, which includes money routed from conservative billionaire donors, the oil and gas industry, and foreign interests. I share parent’s outrage that these entities would be permitted to push their agenda on our children through the guise of education.”
“Just as Congressional Republicans want to ban books and eliminate diverse points of view, PragerU’s intent is to indoctrinate our children with disinformation, mistruths and whitewash history. PragerU’s implementation in Arizona curriculum will undermine the integrity and value of our education institutions. I urge the decoupling of this unholy partnership created by our extremist Arizona Superintendent and that no federal dollars be used to promote this platform in Arizona public schools.”
Rep. Grijalva is a senior member of the House Education and Workforce Committee. He served on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board, including six years as Chairman, from 1974 to 1986.
