Rep. Grijalva Expresses Concern with Outreach Efforts for U.S. Census in Yuma County, Sends Letter to U.S. Census Bureau

WASHINGTON— Today, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva sent a letter to the U.S. Census Director Dr. Steven Dillingham expressing deep concern over U.S. Census Bureau outreach efforts to ensure that all Arizona residents are counted in the 2020 Census. The Census Bureau will not deliver Census forms to P.O. boxes, erecting additional barriers for Yuma County residents without fixed addresses. The letter read in part:

“As a congressional representative for an area of our State with historically hard-to-count communities, I have a vested interest in ensuring that all our constituents are properly accounted for and efforts are taken to address any potential undercounts. I am specifically concerned that parts of Arizona’s Third Congressional District, including Tribal lands, rural areas and those with high number of seasonal residents will be impacted.”
