Rep. Grijalva Introduces Congressional Resolution in Honor of Native American Heritage Month

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva introduced a resolution honoring Native American Heritage Month for the month of November and issued the following statement:

“The Native American story is woven into the fabric of our nation’s history and is the original American story. It’s one of tragedy, triumph, and perseverance that deserves to be honored and celebrated for generations to come. From educational institutions and the military to local government and the halls of Congress; Native Americans are defying stereotypes, reasserting their identity, and embracing the rich cultural inheritance that was theirs all along.

“This Native American Heritage Month, let’s renew our commitment to preserving and promoting Native American history and culture, upholding the federal trust responsibility, and protecting tribal sovereignty to ensure a bright, prosperous future for all our Native American brothers and sisters.”
