Rep. Grijalva Joins Ed & Workforce Democrats in a Comprehensive Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva joined 16 other Democratic members of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce as an original cosponsor of the Aim Higher Act. The bill is a direct contrast to the Republican PROSPER Act, and contains strong investments in students that makes college more affordable and allows for more students of diverse backgrounds to successfully pursue and complete higher education. In response, Rep. Grijalva issued the following statement:
“A college degree opens the door to a world of opportunities, yet for millions, this is simply unattainable. This bill will change that by investing in students to ensure successful graduation, leveraging federal-state partnerships to safeguard college affordability, and preventing predatory for-profit institutions from preying on veterans and vulnerable student groups.
“It’s clear that Republicans only care about cuts: cutting funding, cutting access, and cutting opportunity. The Aim Higher Act directly combats this, and invests in our students so that they have the means to pursue affordable higher education opportunities.”
