Rep. Grijalva to Participate in 20th Anniversary Celebration of Grijalva Elementary School

Tucson, AZ – In honor of the 20th anniversary of Grijalva Elementary, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva will participate in the celebration activities on Tuesday, August 28, 2007.

The festivities will start at 6:00 p.m. Grijalva Elementary is located at 1795 W. Drexel Road.

“I am excited to attend the 20th anniversary celebration of Grijalva Elementary,” said Grijalva. “To know that youth who have attended and succeeded at a school that is named after me is humbling and only strengthens my confidence and expectations for an even greater future for current and future students of Grijalva Elementary.”

As a member of the Tucson Unified District Governing Board, Rep. Grijalva distinguished himself as a proud advocate for teacher and employee rights, civil rights, and for public education. He received many awards and acknowledgements for his service and vision. The most significant honor was the naming of Grijalva Elementary School. Grijalva was on the TUSD school board from 1975-1986.
