Tucson, Ariz. – Thousands of Tucson residents will gather on Sunday, Oct. 17 to benefit the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF) for the 2010 AIDSWALK. Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva will serve as one of this year’s honorary co-chairs and will speak at 9:00 a.m. on the University of Arizona campus central mall.
“I am honored and gratified to help promote this important event,” said Grijalva. “The ongoing AIDS epidemic is one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time, and I thank everyone who helps the Foundation provide critical services to those suffering from HIVand AIDS.”
Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at the University of Arizona campus. The full event schedule is available at the event’s Web site. SAAF’s programs include designing and implementing education to slow the spread of HIV/AIDS, providing support services for those afflicted with this terrible disease and their families, and ensuring that HIV/AIDS patients receive food and care packages.
