WASHINGTON— Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the introduction of articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. The two articles of impeachment include one article concerning abuse of power and one concerning obstruction of justice. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“For three months; numerous investigations, depositions, and public hearings have demonstrated the uncontested facts: President Trump abused his power when he withheld military aid from Ukraine in a corrupt attempt to extort them into interfering in the 2020 election and opening an investigation into a political rival. Afterwards, he engaged in brazen obstruction of justice to cover-up his actions.

“It’s a sad day when the President unapologetically violates his oath of office and jeopardizes our national security. Congress is forced to act, and I will support these impeachment articles when they come to a vote to the House floor. Trump is a danger to our democracy, and I hope my Republican colleagues will look beyond their partisan interests and uphold the Constitution that they swore to protect along with the American people.”
