Tucson, Ariz. – Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today released the following statement on the Department of Homeland Security’s new immigration policy:

“I applaud President Obama and Secretary Napolitano’s decision to align our immigration enforcement priorities with reality and our nation’s values. We need to focus on deporting dangerous felons rather than hard-working American residents, students, military families, and others contributing to the well-being of our country. These guidelines will make our communities safer, save taxpayer dollars, and uphold our nation’s commitment to fairness and justice.While this change is not a permanent solution to our nation’s immigration problem, it is a definite step forward in the right direction.”
