Rep. Grijalva Statement on the Death of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

TUCSON— Today, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement after the death of longtime AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:

“I am shocked and saddened by the death of Richard Trumka, a giant in the Labor movement who dedicated his life to fighting for the working class. One doesn’t need to look far to see the incredible impact Richard had on the lives of working people across the country. He inspired countless individuals, and thanks to his decades of leadership and advocacy, working people’s voices are louder and more influential than ever.

“To honor his legacy, we must rededicate ourselves to uphold the dignity of every worker, something he fought for every day. I can think of no better way to keep his memory alive than to move forward with his same spirit and zeal and fight for better wages, stronger worker protections, and the right of all workers to organize and advocate for themselves.”
