WASHINGTON— Today, President Joe Biden rescinded Trump’s ban on transgender individuals serving in the military. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“Former President Trump’s transgender troop ban was a slap in the face to the ​thousands of brave transgender soldiers past and present who honorably put their lives on the line for our country. Rooted in discrimination and falsehoods,​ ​​the ban actually harmed our military readiness by threatening our ability to recruit and retain talent while tarnishing morale and unit cohesion. President Biden has now reaffirmed that our military should ​continue be inclusive and that anyone qualified and willing to serve in the military should be able to do so without hiding their identity. It’s the right thing to do.”
