Rep. Grijalva Statement on USMCA

WASHINGTON—Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats announced a deal with the White House concerning the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA). In response Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“I look forward to reviewing the full details of the agreement reached between Congressional Democrats and the White House concerning the USMCA. This new agreement must include strong labor protections that safeguard American workers and enhance U.S. manufacturing here while implementing enforceable environmental protections. NAFTA facilitated the outsourcing of American jobs, stagnant wages, and environmental destruction while corporations reaped the benefits. USMCA must not be a sweetheart deal to corporations and must instead be a deal that puts working families and our environment first.”
