Rep. Grijalva to Host Education Roundtable on Proposed House Republican Budget
TUCSON, Ariz. – Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) will host an education roundtable at Roskruge Bilingual Magnet K-8 School on Wednesday, January 24 at 10 AM AZ with teachers, administrators, and school district officials to discuss the potential impacts of the House Republican Fiscal Year 2024 education budget. The House Republican 2024 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill would cut federal funding by 28 percent, or $64 billion, for public education in the United States and eliminates job opportunities for young adults and working families. FY 24 budget negotiations are ongoing as the government is currently funded under a stopgap bill known as a continuing resolution. The education budget advanced by House Republicans eliminates several programs and includes an 80 percent cut to Title I program which supports low income students.
