WASHINGTON—Today the House of Representatives passed H.J.Res.46, a privileged resolution that would end President Trump’s national emergency declaration. After voting for the resolution, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“Trump’s fake emergency is nothing more than a blatant attack on our Constitution by attempting to override the will of Congress and build a monument to his racist policies—and that stops today. The only real emergency along the border is the assault on immigrant families and asylum seekers that Trump’s heartless immigration policies created. Throughout his Presidency he has scapegoated immigrants, blocked asylum seekers, and viciously separated children from their families—many of whom have yet to be reunited. Fulfilling a campaign promise is not a national emergency, and Senate Republicans must now make the decision to support the Constitution or the emperor in the White House—and I certainly hope it’s the former.”
