Rep. Grijalva Votes for PRO Act, Reiterates Support for Workers’ Right to Organize

WASHINGTON— Today the House of Representatives passed the PRO Act, comprehensive legislation that would empower workers to exercise their right to organize, secure free and fair union elections, and hold employers accountable for violating their rights. After voting in support of the legislation, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“Corporate greed has reached a new peak in this country. Look no further than the pandemic, where corporate billionaires reaped billions in profits while millions of their workers were laid off and forced to fend for themselves. Unions are critical to protecting workers, holding employers accountable, and ensuring higher wages, benefits, and safe working conditions for all working people. However, decades of well-funded insidious attacks on workers’ right to organize have decimated union membership and limited pathways to the middle class for millions of working families.

“The PRO Act will restore the rights of workers that created America’s middle class and will penalize employers who violate them. As we begin to rebuild our economy after the pandemic, unions will be critical components of ensuring good-paying jobs and benefits for those returning to the workforce.”
