Rep. Grijalva thanks HHS for continued work related to public health, environmental justice and equality in Arizona
WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) issued a statement welcoming the Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH) Admiral Rachel L. Levine, MD to southern Arizona:
“I welcome Admiral Levine to Tucson and southern Arizona as she continues the Department of Health and Human Services’ mission to address the disproportionately high and adverse health, environmental, economic, climate, and other impacts on communities and people throughout the U.S. that have been historically marginalized by industrial development and pollution. Her work greatly compliments our efforts to pass Environmental Justice for All, increase labor rights and heat standards for workers, expand consultation and respect for tribal sovereignty, and ensure protections for our LGBTQI+ community and women’s reproductive rights. We in southern Arizona face a number of public health challenges and I’m grateful to have HHS as a committed partner in this fight for a more equitable and sustainable future.”
