TUCSON – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Tucson) is now welcoming entries for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. This competition gives students grades 9-12 who live in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District a chance to have their artwork recognized in Washington, D.C. The district winner will be flown to Washington D.C to see their artwork hung in the U.S. Capitol. Key dates for the the Congressional Art Competition are:
Friday, April 20th: All participants’ artwork is due via e-mail in PDF format with the media description to our Tucson office. Must be turned in by 5:00 PM.
Wednesday, May 3rd: Congressman Grijalva will announce the winner of the art competition at his Tucson District Office Reception.
June 2016: Winners Reception in Washington –The winners of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition will be flown with one guardian to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to see their art hung in the Cannon Tunnel.

Important Guidelines include, but are not limited to the following:
· Artwork must be 2D and no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” including the frame and cannot weigh more than 15lbs.
· Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws.
· Accepted media for artwork are as follows: paintings (oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.), drawings (pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers), collage, prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints), mixed media (use of more than two medias), computer-generated art and photography
