TUCSON, AZ – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) released the following statement today, welcoming Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro, Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, and Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald to Tucson for an event Pima County Sullivan Jackson Employment Center next Monday, June 1st. The cabinet secretaries will hold a Homeless Veterans Roundtable Discussion and tour the facility from 3-5pm.
“I extend my warmest welcome to Secretaries Castro, Perez and McDonald as they come to Tucson next Monday. I regret that my work in Washington will keep me away, but I am glad our community has this rare opportunity to hear directly from three cabinet secretaries, and to have our voices heard as well by officials at the highest level of President Obama’s administration.
“In addition to the planned roundtable and tour, I’m sure Secretaries Castro, Perez and McDonald will be answering public questions on a broad range of topics, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal that is currently being negotiated. Trade is tremendously important to the people of Southern Arizona, and to the economic viability of our region. I thank the secretaries in advance for addressing the concerns our neighbors may have about the deal, and look forward to any new insights that may come from this meeting.”
