MEDIA ADVISORY: Progressive Caucus to Hold Immigration Forum Ahead of Secretary Johnson’s Testimony

WASHINGTON—The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) will hold a public forum titled “The Impact of Current Immigration Policy on Women and Children” on Thursday, May 29th at 9:30am. The forum will precede Homeland Security Secretary Johnson’s testimony in the Judiciary Committee later that morning.

The Progressive Caucus forum will feature testimony from women and children directly affected by our broken immigration system. Immigrants and their families have been invited to join the forum after attending a special mass on Capitol Hill.

Despite the fact that women and children make up three quarters of all immigrants in the U.S., historically U.S. immigration laws have failed to address their specific needs. As a result, women and children have suffered significant consequences and inequities under our current system. Today, women and children continue to be left out of the debate.
