January 8, 2026
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Adelita S. Grijalva released the following statement on the 15th anniversary of the January 8th shooting in Tucson, Arizona:
“Fifteen years ago in Tucson, a gunman killed six people and wounded thirteen others – including Congresswoman Gabby Giffords – at a ‘Congress on Your Corner’ event meant to bring people together. Today is not only a day of remembrance, but a call to action. Gun violence continues to devastate our schools, churches, and neighborhoods, leaving families and communities forever changed. Honoring those we lost means recommitting ourselves to ending gun violence and building a safer, more just future for all. Para Todos.”
