Rep. Grijalva Congratulates Winners of 2016 Congressional Art Contest

TUCSON – Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) today announced the winner of the 2016 Congressional Act Competition for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. Carolina Figueroa from Tucson High Magnet school took top honors with Contoured Happiness, a pencil drawing of her cousin. Carolina’s reward is a free trip to Washington, D.C. to see her masterpiece hung in the U.S. Capitol building, where it will remain on display for one year.

“Congratulations to Carolina and all of the more than twenty competitors who submitted works for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition,” Rep. Grijalva said. “The talent on display by each of the contestants this year is nothing short of remarkable. Each young artist shared a unique and inspiring vision – I could not be more proud to help share them with our community and the visitors to the Capitol.”

 

First Place: Contoured Happiness by Carolina Figueroa from Tucson High Magnet school

 

Second Place: Make It Anywhere by Nicholas Adam Daniels from Sonoran Science Academy

 

Third Place: The King by Stephanie Franco from Kofa High School
