Rep. Grijalva to hold Military Academy Day in Yuma

Tucson, AZ– Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva will host a session for local students and families on higher education opportunities at our country’s military academies.

Military Academy Day will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 9:00 AM to Noon at Cibola High School, 4100 W. 20th Street in Yuma, Arizona.

High School students from Yuma, La Paz Counties and other nearby areas, including the California Imperial Valley are invited to meet with representatives of the following Academies:

•U.S. Military Academy
•U.S. Naval Academy
•U.S. Air Force Academy
•U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
•U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Each year, Rep. Grijalva nominates exceptional young men and women residing in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District to our nation’s service academies. The opportunity for a fully funded education and the high honor of attending a service academy make these nominations highly competitive. Obtaining a Congressional nomination is the first and most important step toward securing an appointment to these institutions.

“The opportunity to get an education from one of our nation’s military institutions of higher education is a great privilege for students to have who desire to serve and lead our country”, said Grijalva. “I am proud to offer this event for young men and women of Southwestern Arizona who are interested in attending our nation’s military academies.”
