WASHINGTON– Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva is accepting applications for Spring 2020 internships in Washington, D.C. and his various Southern Arizona district offices through November 1st.
In Washington
Washington, D.C. Office:For those seeking legislative experience, interns in my D.C. congressional office will work closely with legislative and press staff conducting legislative outreach and research on a variety of issues. In addition to their work with the staff, interns will be asked to perform various administrative tasks that generally include answering the office phones, opening and distributing mail, responding to constituent correspondence, and may have the opportunity to assist with activities in the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee (Majority).
Preference is given to students and individuals from Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, although all qualified applicants are carefully considered. Through the enactment of Public Law 115-244, my Washington, D.C. office is offering paid congressional internship position(s). In order to qualify for a stipend position, applicants must:
- Be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Include their most recent FAFSA award letter or FAFSA statement with their completed application.
Additional benefits may include academic credit (if applicable) and a transportation stipend for the local transit system. All interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging.

U.S. House Natural Resources Committee (Majority):As the Chairman of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee, opportunities to intern with the committee are also offered. In the Natural Resources Committee, interns assist committee staff with administrative tasks, conducting legislative research, and compiling data. Applicants must be able to follow direction, work independently, possess clear and concise writing skills, excellent organizational abilities, strong research capabilities, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Preference is given to students and individuals from Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, although all qualified applicants are carefully considered. Internship positions in the committee are paid. Additional benefits may include academic credit (if applicable) and a transportation stipend for the local transit system (WMATA). All interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging.

In Tucson, Somerton & Avondale
Interns at district offices assist staff with a variety of tasks, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, greeting constituents, writing letters and other administrative tasks. In addition, interns may help with long-term projects including constituent casework requests and projects of importance for the Third Congressional District.Internships for the Tucson, Somerton, and Avondale offices are available at the beginning of each semester. Currently, Public Law 115-244 does not extend to district offices andall Arizona internship positions are on a voluntary basis. All district internships are eligible for academic credit (if applicable). All interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging.
