Rep. Grijalva Decries Trump’s Intentions to Block Asylum Seekers at Southern Border

TUCSON, ARIZ.—Yesterday, the Trump Administration announced a directive to effectively end asylum requests for certain asylum seekers. In response, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva issued the following statement:

“The Trump administration will do anything in its power to attack immigrants—even if it means violating domestic and international law. Our laws are clear. No matter how or where an individual enters the country, U.S. law gives them the right to seek asylum through the credible fear process, and nothing short of an act of Congress can change that. U.S. policies should be based on compassion and humanity—not the prejudices of the president.”
